Attorney Austin Burnett

Austin Burnett is a dedicated family law and criminal defense attorney at Bhatt Law Group, where he represents clients throughout New Jersey in family, matrimonial, and criminal matters. With years of experience handling a high volume of cases, Mr. Burnett brings thorough preparation, strategic advocacy, and a strong command of courtroom procedure to every matter he handles. Mr. Burnett’s practice focuses on family law, including divorce, child custody, prenups, support, restraining orders and related matters, as well as criminal defense, including indictable offenses, disorderly persons charges, DWI, and municipal court matters. This experience allows him to skillfully navigate both the New Jersey family court system and the criminal courts, including negotiating settlement agreements, arguing motions, conducting suppression hearings, and zealously advocating for his clients’ interests and the well-being of their families. He has handled numerous hearings and trials and is well-versed in the complex legal and procedural issues that arise within the New Jersey family law and criminal justice systems.
Mr. Burnett earned his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law and began his legal career in a high-volume practice, where he developed the ability to efficiently manage cases while maintaining a client-centered approach. Prior to joining Bhatt Law Group, he worked with the Staten Island Legal Aid Society, served as a Judicial Law Clerk, and practiced at other law firms throughout New Jersey. Through these roles, he gained experience across multiple jurisdictions and counties, handling matters including restraining orders, family law cases such as divorce and child custody, criminal and quasi-criminal proceedings, and a range of other matters.
Known for his professionalism and approachability, Mr. Burnett is particularly skilled at explaining complex legal issues in a clear and understandable manner. He is passionate about advocating for each client and takes pride in providing informed, diligent, and effective representation.
Outside of his legal practice, Mr. Burnett is a devoted father and enjoys traveling throughout the tri-state area.
